Pian Shu, Ph.D.
I used to be an economist and taught at Harvard Business School, Georgia Tech's Scheller College of Business, and Boston University's Questrom School of Business. I taught operations management, strategy, and design thinking, and my research focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and international trade. I published in leading economics and management journals on these topics.
Over time, I realized that what energized me most was not publishing papers, or teaching abstract concepts, but engaging in conversations about core issues that have a practical impact on people’s lives. I became an executive coach and founded my own coaching practice, Sight Sphere, in 2022.
In my coaching work, I’ve noticed that now, more than ever, people are searching for meaning in their jobs and want something more than, or different from, traditional measures of success. Having been through this search myself, I know how valuable it is to have an ally—someone who provides a calm space to explore your ideas without judgment.
At some point, we all must reckon with what we truly want in our careers, and answering the question can change many things.
Do you feel that you are in need of clarity in your career? Let’s begin a conversation at Sight Sphere.
